Controversy[]

Angelea's disqualification[]

Following the airing of the finale, there was mass speculation surrounding why Angelea Preston was disqualified. Due to the final panel and winner reveal being re-filmed, it was highly speculated that Angelea had been crowned the original winner.

In January 2013, Angelea confirmed that she had in fact been crowned the original winner of the cycle. She also confirmed that the popular theory, that she was stripped of her title due to revealing her win before the finale episode was aired, was not true. The theory after this was that she was secretly pregnant, making her ineligible to compete in the first place.

Later in September 2014, Angelea finally revealed that the true reason she was stripped of the title was because she had worked as an escort prior to participating in the show. She added that the producers had been aware of this before filming, but she was ultimately disqualified anyway. A popular theory is that her disqualification had more to do with CoverGirl, with many believing that they were not made aware of Angelea being an escort until after she had won, and that due to this they did not want her to represent their brand, which therefore gave the producers no other choice but to disqualify her and select another winner.

Angelea eventually filed a lawsuit against the producers, the network, and the studios due to breach of contract for $3,000,000 in damages.

Poor conditions[]

In Angelea Preston's lawsuit against the show, it stated that the show had violated fair labor practices by forcing her and other contestants to work 16-hour days, sometimes without a meal break, keeping the contestants in isolation for five to six hours at a time, without food or water. It was also revealed that Bianca Golden and Kayla Ferrel were eliminated because they led a revolt against the producers due to this.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only cycle to not feature a completely new batch of contestants.
  • Cycles 3, 6, 7 and 8 were not represented. However, Jade Cole from Cycle 6 was offered to participate in the cycle, but declined because she thought her contract was "bogus and one-sided".
  • Other alumni who were offered but either declined or were rejected include:
    • Tessa Carlson from cycle 1.
    • April Wilkner and Shandi Sullivan from cycle 2.
    • Toccara Jones, Amanda Swafford and Yaya DaCosta from cycle 3.
    • Furonda Brasfield and Joanie Dodds from cycle 6.
    • Melrose Bickerstaff from cycle 7.
    • Natasha Galkina from cycle 8.
    • Marvita Washington and Lauren Utter from cycle 10.
    • Lio Tipton from cycle 11.
    • Natalie Pack, Fo Porter, Aminat Ayinde, Teyona Anderson from cycle 12.
    • Rachel Echelberger, Sundai Love, Jennifer An and Erin Wagner from cycle 13.
    • Monique Weingart and Molly O'Connell from cycle 16.
  • This is the first "Themed" cycle.
  • This is the final cycle to be aired in standard definition.
  • If the original finale aired, then All-Stars would be the first cycle to have three girls left for the final panel. The first cycle to successfully do this is College Edition.
  • The international destination for this cycle was Crete Island, Greece.
