Mechanically the supersports remain unchanged

Yamaha has blessed the YZF-R7 and YZF-R3 supersport bikes with attractive new colour schemes in the US market for 2023. These motorcycles are known for their practicality with performance, and the design has always been cutting-edge. Now, both bikes are even more attractive with the snazzy new colourways.

The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R7 gets a new Intensity White colour grade that looks sleek, and encapsulates the supersport bike’s aggressive and sporty appeal. Accentuating its sporty appeal are the bright red alloy wheels which give it a rather vibrant charm. Apart from this, the R7 continues to be available in the Team Yamaha Blue and Performance Black paint schemes as well.

On the other hand, the 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 gets a snazzy new Phantom Purple livery that not only looks sporty but also funky. The glossy purple shade gives the bike a more youthful appeal. However, it slightly reduces the aggressive look of the bike.

Mechanically, both bikes remain unchanged, with the R7 packing a 689cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine making 73.4PS and 67Nm. The R3 gets a more humble 321cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 42PS and 29.4Nm.

The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R7 is priced at USD 9,199 (around Rs 7.29 lakh) and commands a premium of USD 2,000 (around Rs 1.58 lakh) over the 2022 model. Its smaller sibling, the 2023 R3 costs USD 200 more than its previous model at USD 5,499 (around Rs 4.36 lakh).

That said, hopefully, the Yamaha R3 will be making a comeback in India soon and the Japanese bikemaker had also confirmed that it will be bringing the R7 to our shores earliest by the end of 2023.

What is the top speed of the 2022 Yamaha R7?

The Yamaha R7 maxes out at 231kmph, which is a tad faster than its arch-rival, the Kawasaki Ninja 650.

How much HP does the 2022 R7 have?

2022 Yamaha YZF-R7 Specifications.

Is the Yamaha R7 faster than the R6?

The new Yamaha R7 completely dominates the short-stroke and highly strung R6 all the way up to 9500 rpm. At its peak, the R7 is making more-than 20 horsepower than the R6 at 7000 rpm. Between 3000 and 4000 rpm the YZF-R7 is making twice the torque of the R6. It's extremely impressive.

How rare is the Yamaha R7?

The reason the first R7 is not well known, however, is because it is exceedingly rare. Only 500 were ever made, to meet homologation requirements, and of those, only 50 made it to North America. Of those 50, 10 went directly to Yamaha-supported race teams, so only 40 made it to showrooms and order sheets.
