When can I order a 2023 Bronco Heritage Edition

One of the most iconic Ford models there has ever been is the Ford Bronco.

Launched in the 1960s, this series of vehicles has withstood the test of time, undergoing extensive remodels, substantial updates, and significant design changes.

Now, for 2023, Ford has decided to honor the legacy of the prancing horse with the new retro Ford Bronco Heritage Edition, showcasing design aspects and features of the Bronco from years past.

A new set of vehicles paying homage to the original Bronco generation got to be part of one of Ford's recent launches, customers can pre-order new Bronco Heritage Edition models for 2023, for fall 2022 and Q2 2023.

Open orders will be available in 2023, these retro-inspired Broncos get designed as a tribute to the initial iteration from the 1960s, even going as far as to feature cues from those models: classic design elements, featuring the Oxford White-painted roof, grille, and wheels got incorporated, and customers will be able to choose from an exclusive exterior color selection.

These include Robin’s Egg Blue for the Bronco Sport Heritage Edition, and in Robin’s Egg Blue, Yellowstone Metallic and Peak Blue for the Heritage Limited Edition.

Heritage models will come in the Ford Bronco Sport trim, as well as standard two-door and four-door trims.

Ford mentions in its press release how the Bronco's style and off-road agility captivated America upon its arrival, and those were aspects the company wanted to honor.

These new models will be incredibly limited in production, with 1,966 units of each Heritage Limited Edition model only produced - that number isn't as arbitrary as it may seem, as 1966 marks the year the first Broncos debuted.

Looking Back At The Iconic Ford Bronco Compact SUV

The original iteration of Bronco first hit the sales floor in the 1960s. In the early 1960s, Ford product manager Donald N. Frey, also responsible for the Ford Mustang, began to dream up what would become the first Ford Bronco.

Its initial design received production approval in February 1964, and it got designed to compete with the utilitarian Jeep CJ-5 off-roader.

While there was an initial spike in interest and sales for the Ford Bronco, those began to decline once the market shifted more toward on-road sport utility vehicles - these initial Broncos had a chassis specifically constructed, meaning that no other Ford or Lincoln/Mercury vehicle would share the same chassis, as vehicles sometimes do.

Even the construction method was specific; box-section body-on-frame construction got utilized on a 92-inch wheelbase - all units got sold with four-wheel drive in order to keep production more basic.

Heavy-duty suspension systems and air front springs were both offered as options, also, a three-speed, column-shifted manual transmission and floor-mounted transfer case shifter got offered in an attempt to keep production costs manageable.

Honoring The Vintage Ford Bronco's Legacy

Both the full-size Bronco SUVs and the 2023 Bronco Sport Heritage Edition will get constructed on the Big Bend series, also, both models are set to feature the 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbo engine that puts out 181 HP and 190 lb.-ft. of torque.

Pieces and elements of past Broncos are incorporated into this new Heritage Edition.

These Heritage-inspired Broncos showcase signature Oxford White accents with a roof that's uniquely painted to look nearly identical to the roofs of the original Broncos. Further, there will be a unique Oxford White heritage grille that displays Race Red “BRONCO” lettering.

To intensify the retro feeling, these Heritage-inspired Ford Broncos also have Oxford White 17-inch aluminum heritage wheels and body side stripes.

The interior has a Navy Pier instrument panel, as well as plaid cloth seats right out of the 1980s Broncos that also have weathered Navy Pier, of course, Oxford White had to get incorporated somewhere, as it accentuates the bin and door ring.
