Etude House Muhly Romance Play Color Eyes Eyeshadow Palette is a new, limited edition Fall 2020 9-pan eyeshadow palette in enchanting sunset rose shades! This was a palette I didn’t even have to think about purchasing! As soon as I saw it launch I immediately popped it into my cart and purchased it. It’s a really, really pretty Fall eyeshadow palette that I know I’ll get a ton of use out of! It’s also considerably more pigmented and smoother in texture compared to some of the longer and more traditional 10-pan Play Color Eyes Palettes like Rose Wine, Juice Bar, etc…!

One of the biggest appeals of the palette is of course, the selection of shades. I absolutely adore the shades here! They are very complimentary on my bigger brown eyes. At first glance they almost look rose but they actually have more of a terracotta base that gives them a nice natural look on my eyes.

Etude House Muhly Romance Play Color Eyes is inspired by muhly grass. I’m sure you’re very familiar with it as it’s one of those grasses that we don’t always take note of until Fall arrives and it goes from being green to turning yellow, orange, or more commonly purple. It’s a perennial grass that has long, airy strands. I used to use it in my garden as I thought it complimented my mum flower beds when I planted them in the Fall but unfortunately, I’ve pulled it out because it can be a rather big pain in the butt when it comes to Spring and Summer floral beds as it takes over the entire garden and things start looking more Witch’s Cottage than Hampton’s chic if you know what I mean.

I can see these shades as sort of reminding me of muhly. My home upstate has a lot of land and on it we have certain patches of muhly growing wildly as when the sun starts to set it looks pretty look a perfect postcard picture as the grass sways in the breeze as the warm Fall sun sinks beneath the grass line and makes way for the cooler, breezy night. The swaying muhly makes an appearance on the compact of the palette. The rosy shaded compact features a clear case with a delicate cropping of muhly on the lid that appear to be swaying in the breeze.

The palette almost has a rosy aspect but the shades have a brown almost terracotta-like undertone that gives them a more natural finish and look. There are five mattes here, one semi-matte with a touch of fine gold micro shimmer, and three High Glossy Jewel Shades that are best suited as toppers to add a pretty bit of sparkle to your completed look. I have a love hate relationship with many of the bigger Play Color Eyes Palettes. I own all of them but sometimes the dense, firmer eyeshadows are a bit of a pain and lack pigment but oddly create really pretty eye looks. It’s a weird relationship to say the least.

I had no such issues with this palette. The shades, aside from the toppers, all have very nice pigment. Grant you, it’s not bold and super pigmented but it’s pigmented enough that color shows up nicely not to mention they may be firm but not powdery plus application was very smooth and blending was easy. This is a nice, solid natural eyeshadow palette if you want something that accents eyes but doesn’t overpower them. The toppers aren’t super pigmented but they aren’t supposed to be. I experienced very little fall out using the toppers but I found patting them on with my finger yielded the best results as using a brush was a pain as I was unable to pick up color easily with one. The colors all work well together but I do wish there was at least one lighter shade I could use as a base or brow bone highlighter but that wasn’t a major issue as I have plenty of shades I can bring in to do this from other palettes I own.

This is probably one of my favorite palettes from the Fall 2020 launches thus far. It’s super simple yet very pretty and ideal for quickie natural looks without a ton of effort or no how. The shade range is very, very flattering and I think I’ll get a lot of use out of it.

The Etude House Play Color Eyes Muhly Romance Eyeshadow Palette is a new, limited edition Fall 2020 eyeshadow palette that recently launched in Korean which includes nine eyeshadows that are matte, semi-matte, and sparkle in finish. This palette was inspired by the rose gold glow of a sunset with muhly grass swaying gently in the background as the Fall sun sinks beneath the ground. It’s a very pretty, natural palette that had a fairly good formula that was pigmented, easy to apply, and blend unlike many of the more firmer and less than pigmented Play Color Eyes that have launched in the past. The mattes all had very nice pigment and the sparkly topper shades were easy to apply with my finger and produced very little if any fall out. This is a very natural palette that doesn’t provide bold, pigmented looks but it is pigmented enough to accent eyes with a nice Fall selection of shades!
