Msi laptop screen won't turn on

TLDR: notebook is powered, screen stays black. Tried a few things.

I'm travelling with my GS65 and the weirdest thing happened. I was using it, did Win+L to lock the screen, went away for 5 minutes, came back and the screen was black. Pressed a key, moved mouse but it didnt reactivate. I thought it may be in sleep mode so I pressed the power button. Nothing changed, it was running but no screen.

Pressed power button to force shut down. Tried to turn on. The Graphics card indicator light comes on. It is white for a second, then changes to orange, I can hear fans running. Screen is black. No bios, nothing. I also cannot hear the windows jingle on startup, so I think it's not booting either. It just stays powered on and does nothing.

After reading several posts I did the following:

Hold power button down for 5 mins. No change.

Disconnect power, take out battery, hold power button for 20s. No change.

Press the small reset button on the backside for 30s. No change.

I cannot test with an external monitor, I don't have one available for a while.

I think I'll have to send it back to MSI when I get home, but I'll be carrying around this brick for 2 months when I was counting on using it.

Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

Thank you

I turned on my laptop though the screen stays black after many retries on turning it on. Though it indicates that the power lights is on. Its an msi laptop :<

Msi laptop screen wont turn on

Try this... 1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off). 2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop. 3. Turn on the external monitor. 4. Turn on the laptop. NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work. If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.
