Good day everyone, I am having this issue with my laptop ( HP ProBook), I can't remember/ see the model number anymore.
When I plugged in the charger, there is a white blinking light coming from the charging port. - I did replace the battery but there's still can't fix the problem.
- I did replace the charger with another charger but still can't solve.
any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this problem??
if you still have the physical manual ( you find one online too), there should be troubleshooting section or if still under warranty contact HP.
Try this: 1. Power off laptop 2. Unplug AC adapter and Disconnect battery (if it has a removable battery) 3. Hold power button for 15 seconds 4. Re-plug Battery and AC adapter 5. Power up PC Hopefully, your light should be amber.
Goodluck.
tried these steps but still can't fix this issue. with the blinking light from the powerport, my laptop cannot even power-on.
A common problem with HP laptops is a faulty power jack on them.
Hopefully yours is the plug in type as they are easier to change and don't require soldering skills.
Simple to test. Take out battery and just plug in charger. Any lights? Does laptop turn on? No? Then replace charger.

Might be motherboard is gone or something with power in the computer we had similar problem with a Lenovo the led would be on but the computer wouldn't boot so we just replaced it (it was out of its warranty).

Try to re-seat the RAM. Does it make any beep sound? Also, does the light blink following a pattern (like 1-2-3--pause--1-2-3--pause--etc..)?

From what I can remember, that may be a sign that your AC adapter is not putting out the required voltage/amperage. You might try a different power adapter if you can get your hands on one. Other than that, your power supply circuit might be dead and in that case you have a nice laptop shaped paper weight.

Sorry, I just re-read your post. Is the chipset or video card nVidia by any chance?

Try pulling the battery and unplugging the power cord, hold the power button down for 20+ seconds then reattach the power cord and see what happens. Often fixes similar problems.

Sorry for my late response.. I did replaced the power adapter, not same HP brand, but same Voltage, Amps and connector, and the power now was OK. I mean the Power Jack's light is steady and I can switch on the laptop now. But unfortunately i got another problem, there's no display on the screen, not even the BIOS, it will just beep two times when I pressed the power button. And sometimes there's no beep codes at all. I have tried reseating the RAM, replacing the RAM, removing the HDD, replugging the CMOS battery. Maybe the defect was the Mobo. Thanks for the helpful post... I will try to send it to a laptop repair shop and if it's the Mobo, I'll just tell my Dad that it's better to buy a new one. :-) Thanks for all your input

99% it is a chipset or video card issue. You may try with the 'oven trick' if you feel lucky (try googling 'nVidia oven trick' if you don't know what this is about)
