I have the same problem...I get to where it says start new game and it tries to load and just takes me back to the menu page. Verified game cache and reinstalled as well and nothing. Great to spend that much money and not be able to play the game.

Thank you...that did the trick for me. Game is running great right now and the graphics look good as well. Better than Unity....I don't know where they went wrong with that game but it will just not run worth a damm on my system.

I tried that but it just opened uPlay and I had the same problem
i have the same problem , starting acc.exe opens uplay , then starting savegame sync and shuts down

if u use msi afterburner , disable rivatuner statistics server for the acc.exe

I was having the EXACT same issue as the OP, but have found the solution: Turn off the in-game overlay and other such options in the Uplay settings. It works for me now, so hopefully it'll work for you too.
I'm having a similar issue. I start the game but a few seconds later in minimizes to the task bar. I click on it and it shows a black screen then minimizes again. Anyone how how to fix this?
Does it minimize the game for you? You're trying to play in fullscreen and are you on windows 10? If so in display settings set the size of everything to 100%. I had the same problem and by setting it to 100 it worked perfect. I had mine at 150%

If I try to open the game a Uplay screen opens up saying "Syncronising saved games" and then it just shuts down and the game doesn't run at all, it doesn't even show in my task manager that there is anything running
Put a Uplay Icon on your desktop, start the game from and in Uplay. If you bought the from steam game it will default back through steam. (If you bought the disks, there can be a small starting issue) If you start it through steam, it goes to uplay and then back to steam, also make sure your firewall allows uplay or ubisoft too OK and good luck my friends,:~} BTW remeber last year when Initiates was the problem with Unity ( it was shutdown for repairs and syncing issues) and that is also a part of the game so the firewall on that too.

Just in case anyone comes across this, my game would start up but then remain minimised. This is one of a couple of threads that showed up when searching for a solution. I ended up getting the game to start by deleting:
C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\Documents\Assassin's Creed Rogue\AssassinRogue.ini
And when editing the graphics settings, ensure that you enable Borderless Window instead of Fullscreen.
(You can also just set BorderlessWindow=1 in the ini, if you'd prefer.)
The issue is that Rogue needs 32 Bit Visicalc dll. I was getting an error saying I was missing 2 files MSVCR110.dll and MSVCP110.dll and I discovered those are available in "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4" at the following link: //www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
