PM #1 Norton Ghost Problem I have Xp Pro and SP2 I am having a problem ghosting my C: using Ghost 2003. When I use the Wizard to backup to Cdr it goes well and makes the 6 cds.
On verification is says that the file is corrupt to make another file. I have done this 3 times. If I use the boot disk and try ghosting the partition onto D partition I get an error message that Ghost has encountered an NTFS volume error a log file has not been flushed(536) restart computer and run CHK DSK and try again. Which I did do and ended up wth the same error message. Can anyone help please

February 7th, 2005, 12:03 AM #3 Hi uppercrust Thanks for the suggestion. I had a look at the
program but it looks as though its for cloning and I only want to back up my C: to cd's and It doesn't appear as though this program will do it. I have Ghost and is has always worked in the past when I used it on W98SE and would really like to sort out this problem.

#4 It does sound as if the drive is corrupted. Run chkdsk again using the /r switch (ie chkdsk /r). That is the most thorough option, and may put things right. Nick.

SuperSparks it has fixed the problem in so far as I can now get a verified ghost file as long as I don't save it to the cd. I ghosted a file without using the wizard with the reboot floppy and in the options I segmented it thinking that it would make volumes the size that would fit a cd but they are too big. I remember with W98se I used ghost.exe -split=650 -auto, as the cds are 700, somewhere to make the files fit I have no idea where I need to include this. Any suggestions
please
February 7th, 2005, 08:50 PM #6 Why can't you use the Ghost Wizard from Windows? I have no trouble with using it to burn images to CDR. I honestly can't remember wher the setting for the file split is in the DOS version - it's a couple of years since I used that. But this excellent article should tell you: Guide to Norton Ghost Nick.

PM #9 I now have a copy of my C: drive on CDs. The main problem was that some of the cd's were faulty. Thought of trying a new batch of cds this morning and success I would like to
thank everyone that posted ideas.
