Từ vựng là chìa khóa giúp nâng band điểm IELTS của bạn cao hơn, và cũng là chìa khóa để bạn phát triển cả bốn khía cạnh giao tiếp (nghe, đọc, viết, nói). Nhưng lượng từ vựng khổng lồ của tiếng Anh chắc hắn đã làm cho nhiều bạn cảm thấy khó nhằn và bối rối vì không biết phải nên bắt đầu từ đâu và không biết phải làm thế nào để không quên từ mình đã học. Tầm quan trọng của từ vựng trong tiếng anh
Cả bốn kỹ năng nghe, đọc, viết, nói của tiếng Anh đều có một nền tảng chung, từ vựng. Từ vựng là yếu tố thiết yếu để đảm bảo chúng ta có thể truyền tải suy nghĩ và cảm xúc của chúng ta cho người khác, và cũng đảm bảo chúng ta hiểu được thông điệp và ý kiến mà người khác gửi gắm đến mình. Khi biết nhiều từ, ta hiểu được nhiều hơn khi đọc và không cần phải đoán nghĩa. Ta có thể thưởng thức được nhiều nguồn giải trí hơn như YouTube hay Netflix. Ta cũng chọn được từ phù hợp để giao tiếp với người khác trong nhiều ngữ cảnh khác nhau, dù là thường ngày, ở đại học, hay ở nơi công sở.
Riêng đối với IELTS, khác với một số kì thi khác, IELTS là một kì thi mà chúng ta sẽ không đậu hay rớt trong phiếu báo kết quả, mà chúng ta sẽ nhận một band điểm từ 0 đến 9.0, như các bạn đã biết. Lý do là vì IELTS đánh giá năng lực và trình độ ngôn ngữ hiện tại của người đi thi, hơn việc chỉ là một bài kiểm tra. Vốn kiến thức về tiếng Anh của ta càng rộng, điểm số của chúng ta càng được phản ánh rõ hơn. Những chiến thuật và mẹo giải đề IELTS của DOL sẽ càng tăng hiệu quả cao hơn rất nhiều khi vốn từ của người thi cải thiện. Vậy nên, DOL muốn nhấn mạnh với bạn việc học từ vựng. Hãy dành nhiều thời gian cho học từ vựng như là “kỹ năng thứ 5” trong thi IELTS bạn nhé!
Từ vựng tiếng anh cần thiết cho các band ietls
Có thể bạn chưa biết: mọi ngôn ngữ tiếng Châu Âu sẽ được quy chiếu về cùng một thang đo CEFR dù cho ngôn ngữ đó là gì, hay chúng ta thi ngôn ngữ đó trong bài kiểm tra nào. Kết quả IELTS cũng không phải ngoại lệ, và chính vì điều này, chúng ta có thể xem band mình đang hướng tới thuộc cấp độ CEFR nào và lựa chọn kiến thức phù hợp hơn.
Ví dụ:
- band 4.0 – 5.0 là trình độ B1,
- band 6.0 – 6.5 là trình độ B
- band 7.0 – 7.5 là trình độ C1,
Một điểm vô cùng hữu ích khác của thang CEFR là việc học từ vựng. Khi chúng ta dò nghĩa ở từ điển Cambridge và Oxford, ta có thể xác định được cấp độ CEFR của từ vựng, và từ đó lựa chọn những từ chúng ta nên lưu ý để phù hợp với band điểm của mình mong muốn. Thật tiện dụng phải không các bạn.
Sở dĩ như vậy là vì thang đo từ vựng CEFR vốn được hình thành theo mức độ thường gặp của từ các từ đó. Những từ vựng A1, A2, B1 rất hay được dùng trong tình huống hằng ngày và bao hàm những từ vựng được giảng dạy ở hệ thống học phổ thông. Vậy nên, nếu các bạn tra từ mới và phát hiện từ này là mức độ A1, A2, hay B1, thì các bạn hãy mau chóng ghi nhớ lại vì nó sẽ xuất hiện lại rất nhiều.
Đối với từ vựng B2, đây là nhóm từ người bản xứ sử dụng để trao đổi thông tin với nhau trong phần lớn tất cả các tình huống. B2 cũng chính là nền tảng cho mức độ 6.0 – 6.5 mà đa số các trường đại học ở nước khác yêu cầu, vì nó minh chứng rằng bạn có kiến thức tiếng Anh vừa đủ để có thể giao tiếp và sống ở một môi trường tiếng Anh.
Một khi nền tảng B2 đã vững chắc, bạn có thêm lựa chọn để học những từ vựng ít sử dụng hơn ở C1, C2.. Từ vựng cấp độ này mang tính học thuật và chuyên ngành cao. Nghĩa của từ cũng rất chi tiết và chỉ sử dụng được trong một vài tính huống nhất định. Điều này cũng chính là lí do từ vựng C1, C2 yêu cầu chúng ta học thuộc lòng cả ví dụ từ điển của những từ này, cũng như những từ khác và nó hay đi cùng. Thất bại trong việc làm điều này sẽ khiến câu chứa từ C1, C2 của chúng ta đọc hoặc nghe khó hiểu.
Để ví dụ rõ hơn, DOL sẽ cung cấp cho các bạn một số list từ vựng cần thiết tương đồng với những cấp độ độ CEFR và các band IELTS.
