It is on this background that the study aimed at investigating the effect of communication practices on organizational development in Somalia. The study was guided by four objectives which included; to determine the effect of upward communication on development of Moumin group of companies in Somalia, to find out the effect of downward communication on development of Moumin group of companies in Somalia, to investigate the effect of horizontal communication on development of Moumin group of companies in Somalia, to find out the effect of diagonal communication on development of Moumin group of companies in Somalia. This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The study selected a sample of 92 respondents from the different departments of Moumin group of companies in Mogadishu Somalia. The study used questionnaire to collect data, the data collected was tabulated and analyzed using SPSS version 22.From the regression analysis the study indicated that there is a significant relationship between upward communication and organizational development. Correlation analysis indicated that there is a significant positive relationship between downward communication and organization development. Correlation analysis indicated that there is a significant positive relationship between horizontal communication and organization development. Correlation analysis from the study findings indicated that there is a significant positive relationship between diagonal communication and organization development. Based on the study findings the researcher made the following recommendations; since effective communication is important for the development of an organization it is important to eliminate communication barriers from within the organization. Organizations should create a network system which allows workers to store and share information on a central hub. Encourage an open-door culture where workers are not afraid to provide suggestions and feedback to management and coworkers.

The study investigated challenges of communication practices in the seven Colleges of Education in the Ashanti Region. The population comprised College administrators and tutors and the sample included 21 administrators 178 tutors. The instrument was pre-tested and a reliability coefficient of 0.89 was realized and it was deemed to be good for the final data administration. Consequently, data collected were analysed descriptively using frequencies and percentages. The results of the study showed that the College had communication practices that use three traditional channels of communication, namely: downward, upward and horizontal. Also, media of communication like face to face, telephone, text messages, staff meetings as well as notice boards were used to convey the needed information on regular basis.

Coordination/ Knowledge sharing, the effectiveness of communication and reliability revealed very strong agreement among the communication dimensions, while strong agreement on communication flow, barriers to effective communication, timeliness and media effectiveness was disclosed. On communicating company news and updates, the communication tools were generally rated as somewhat effective, whereas very effective for communicating information.
