For morning cold start, the start up is more responsive and idling slightly better compared to Shell when new.
Low speed driving and power is about the same as Shell.
Revving to higher speed and about 100KM, the engine is more stable & lively.
Overall slight improvement from Shell.
What I like Smooth, better fuel consumption, lively acceleration & car feel much lighter.
High performance 100% Synthetic lubricant Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W40 is specifically designed for tuned engines with mild cam profiles (Lift, duration, ramp) and/or moderate valve spring pressure (<180psi) requiring more than 1100ppm of Zinc.
NOTE: Do not use Zinc additives. More than approximately 1200ppm of Zinc is ineffective, negatively impacting other wear protection additives and is considered Zinc saturation or Zinc dosing. If cam wear occurs, investigate mechanical or oil flow issues. Please consult Motul.
I was told that the Motul 8100 X-cess Gen2 is good "street" oil from quality base stock and with good additives to protect from daily driving abuse.
I have also been told that Mobile 1 5w30 synthetic is a great oil for the street.
I drive like a granny most of the time due to gas prices, haha. However every other drive Ill do some redline pulls.
Thanks for the additional help!

Could talk about fluids forever!
But I've made the switch from Liqui Moly to xcess Gen 2 and haven't looked back. More consistent temps at least for my climate. Would definitely recommend. I'm running 5W 40

It's in the thread. You don't need consensus. Read the posts from Edycol

A few consistent redline pulls isn’t gonna cause your engine much heartache - any LL01 will be great. I personally use Motul Xcess Gen2 5W-40, my usage is granny on the street and at my rate probably 4-6 track days a year.

If X-Cess makes my car look like that I'm going to get it NOW!

I'm considering the same switch from Liqui Moly over to Motul 8100 X Gen2. Did you use an engine flush when you did the oil change switching brands?

Also interested in knowing whether its necessary to do any kind of oil flush before using another brand of oil?

Not needed. Pick one oil and stick with it to get the best results.

My 2c for Motul…Just did the oil pan gasket on my wife's 335i (N55). I've used Motul 8100 X-Cess Gen 2 5W/40 for the last 25,000 on this engine with great results. I use the same oil in my F80 M3 with zero issues.

One thing I noticed about Motul X-cess Gen2 5W40 compared to all the other 5W40s, is that it enables the engine to hold higher gears (=higher engine load) much longer going uphill. That to me is a testament to the high shear stability of this oil. Cold start gets a little rough after 3000 miles, so that's my OCI.

I made the switch from Liqui Moly to Motul Gen2. It's been 1,600 miles so far and it feels better. Might be placebo.
Is Motul 8100 oil good?
Certainly worth the price and confidently recommend it. It convinced me to switch to Motul in the trans and diff too. 6 stars. Run smooth and engine quiet.
Is Motul better than Mobil?
imo, the highest end motuls are better. they are made from better base stocks and incorporate a better additive package. plus when an oil is ester based it is better than any normal synthetic oil. we've had lots of good reviews of the h100.
What is the difference between Motul X cess and X clean?
X-cess is an anti wear oil for powerful engines, X-clean oil is primarily for cars with three way cats and diesel particulate filters, whatever that means.
Is Liqui Moly better than Motul?
Most people who have tried both regard Liquimoly to be better - that is comparing Motul 7100 synthetic oil with Liquimoly Street Race synthetic. For racing, Motul 300V is a better oil, but the gains are minuscule , less than 1% and more in the 0.3–0.5% range.
