I am using an Apple MacBook Pro, which I recently updated it because I thought the problem might be because of insufficient RAM or storage. Guess what? It isn't !!

The only thing I can do is to Force Quit on Excel & start again.

All Office & Apple system updates are up to date.

Is it possible that Microsoft could actually listen to their users, because I'm just about ready to throw them out & try another option...

Because so many people have had this problem over the past few years, I would think Microsoft would/should do something about it !!

If an Microsoft 365 application such as Word or Excel isn’t working correctly, sometimes restarting it will fix the problem. If that doesn’t work, you can try repairing it. When you’re done, you might need to restart your computer.

This occurs because you can't mix 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Office.

What to do

To fix this error and switch from 32-bit to 64-bit (or vice-versa), you must do the following in this order.

Uninstall Office Go to Uninstall Office from a PC and follow the steps to uninstall the version of Office (or stand-alone Office application, such as Visio or Project) you don't want.
Install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office
Select your version below and follow the installation steps.
- Microsoft 365, Office 2019, or Office 2016 (Follow the steps to select a specific bit version, such as 64-bit if that's the version you need.)
