If you're having problems with the wireless connection on your Huawei gateway:

  1. Check the wireless connection on other wireless devices, such as a cell phone, tablet, or laptop.
    IfTry these steps
    One device won't connect to the gateway while others do
    1. For the wireless device that won't connect:
      • Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and your password is correct
      • Power off and restart the device
      • Forget the Wi-Fi network and reconnect to it
         
    2. Change the Security Mode on the gateway from WEP to WPA2-PSK. If that doesn't work, choose No Security to disable security settings completely. See Setting up wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) on your Huawei gateway.


    NOTE: If you change your setting to No Security, your Wi-Fi connection will be open to anyone within range of the gateway.

    No wireless devices connect
    1. Press the Wi-Fi button on the gateway.
      • Wi-Fi may have been turned off by accident
      • Make sure Wi-Fi is on
         
    2. Enter your network name again:
      • Go to http://172.16.1.254 from your home computer (clicking this link will open a new tab or window in your browser, and this page will stay open behind it)
      • Log in (see Logging in to your Huawei gateway for more information)
      • Click Network Setting (from the left-hand menu) > Wireless > General
      • Re-enter your Wireless Network Name or SSID
      • Click Apply

  2. Restart the gateway:
    • Press the power button on the back to turn it off
    • Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds
    • Plug it back in
    • Press the power button to turn it on
       
  3. Try your wireless connection again.
