I have a Nobsound amp that looks identical to this. If the one pictured is the one you are looking at, I would say it's just OK. It does not sound nearly as good as a smaller Tripath amp I already had.

An emergency amp just has to be reasonably reliable and produce sounds of acceptable quality. What is your Tripath amp? Can you elaborate details about it?

I don't think I would choose a cheap amp like this if you want reliability. Depends on how reliable you need. The Tripath amp is reviewed here https://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/dayton_dta100_e.html

I guess the breeze audio amp can endure anywhere between 1 and 10 years. That's long enough to weather emergencies including financial ones. I cannot push amplifiers to their limits because I live in an apartment with my family. I don't have a listening room. Because I don't push amplifiers to their limits, I guess a cheap amp can endure a few years on average.

I have a couple of the Breeze units. I have used one for at least 12 months to listen to fm radio while I work in my art studio. It drives a pair of Minimus 7 speakers (8 ohm). Perfectly adequate and has never failed me. I think I run it off 18V DC switching supply and it goes quite loud. I have also hooked up larger speakers (Tannoy bookshelf) without issue. I take the second one with me when I travel and hook up some small speakers and plug in my mp3 player. Great for that. There is a review on Youtube

. Review seems genuine enough but you be the judge. The reviewer gives some recommendations on using 4 and 8 ohm speakers with these little units wrt power supply. However, for serious listening, I use more conventional amplifiers and bigger speakers. Glenn

While I haven't actually heard it, I have heard good reviews about the "Nobsound" branded version of this "Breeze Audio" amp. I'm running two "Aiyima" mono amps and would imagine their brand of this type of class D amp would sound pretty good as well. I guess any of these less expensive class D amps would sound good, especially in an emergency situation.

(my stuff)

It seems that Breeze Audio TPA3116 has its input gain set to 32dB instead of 20dB. Higher input gain leads to higher noise floor. A grounded power supply increases noise floor of Breeze Audio TPA3116. It has much less noise with an ungrounded power supply.

Does anyone know a cheap TPA3116 amp with the input gain of 20dB and proper electrical grounding?

Didn't you decide to go with the TDA7498E-based FX-Audio FX1002A?

I think they do it because it makes the amp seem more powerful to the less discerning purchaser. "Don't have to turn it up far and it gets loud!"

I haven't, yet. I'm considering

  • FX1002A
  • TPA3250
    • FX502S Pro
  • TPA3251
    • No-name chinese amps, one of which I already ordered days ago.
    • So, I may not order this again.
  • TPA3255
    • No-name chinese amps

I may choose either FX502S Pro and a 24V 6A adapter or a no-name chinese TPA3255 amp.

Can a TPA3116 deliver that much power? mnaybe its one chip per side? The one I have is rated at 50W per side and I think it sounds great.
