Blazer EV 2024

Chevrolet introduced the iconic Blazer back in 1969, and it has been one of the most popular and best-selling SUVs ever since. With the increased interest and market for electric vehicles (EVs) it makes sense that Chevy would take one of their most well-known models and offer it up in EV form, and that is just what they’ve done for the 2024 model year by introducing the Chevy Blazer EV.

The all-electric iteration is already incredibly popular for a whole host of reasons, and that popularity already has the maker pulling the “reservation” button from their website. With four trims available (including the beloved SS badging) and an admirable estimated range, the Chevy Blazer EV is already desirable, but adding in intuitive technology and power for an affordable price really helps to push orders for the SUV over the edge.

Initially, the Chevy Blazer EV offered availability through a $100 refundable deposit to reserve the ride, but recently, Chevy pulled the reservation option from their site. Despite its preproduction model status, the Blazer EV waiting list is already full of potential owners awaiting delivery sometime in 2023.

Let’s take a closer look at the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV and why it is already sold out.

Specifications Of The Chevy Blazer EV

Chevrolet

General Motors Company (parent company of Chevrolet) revealed the new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV back in July of this year as a cross-over all-electric offering for the masses. The Blazer EV sits upon GM’s Ultium platform (BEV3) and includes the Ultium battery technology and drive motor technology. This platform allows for multiple configurations and fits front, rear, or all-wheel drive systems. The modular approach to EV development is not new and allows for more flexibility in GM’s creations through collaboration.

According to GM, the Blazer EV is capable of a range of between 247 and 320 miles depending on the trim, which is respectable and on par with competing SUV and crossover offerings such as the 2022 BMW iX, which offers up to 324 miles per charge, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which offers up to 303 miles in their SE, SEL, and Limited trim selections. All trims include onboard AC charging capabilities of up to 11.5 kW and high-speed DC charging of up to 190 kW.

The Blazer EV is being offered in three trims at this time – the 1LT, 2LT, and RS, which will be available in the summer of 2023. Later, the more powerful SS iteration will join them. The SS is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in just under four seconds. The SS produces up to 557 horsepower and up to 648 lb-ft of torque with dual electric motors, while the base trims offer a single motor that offers up to around 300 horsepower.

Standard on all trims is the Chevy Safety Assist package, which includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assistance with lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, following distance assistance and indicator, and intelligent high beams.

These safety inclusions have not only seen the Blazer’s popularity among the civilian population boom but also have prompted it to become a police pursuit vehicle (PPV) for law enforcement in 2024 after several additional modifications to the SS trim level such as skid plates, police-rated tires, and additional racks and supports.

Features And Production Of The Chevy Blazer EV

Chevrolet

Despite the Blazer EV being currently only a preproduction offering and not finalized, the company turned off the option to preorder the vehicle just about four months after initially offering it. This tracks with the history of the company, as their GMC Hummer EV demand was so strong that it also required a shutdown of new orders while they caught up in production, and the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 saw its reservation quota filled less than fifteen minutes after opening in October.

According to a spokesperson from Chevrolet, the company fulfilled its reservation targets already and is hopeful that it will be able to resume taking reservations closer to the final product launch. At this time, though, the Blazer EV remains sold out, and no hints are available as to the number of reservations made or which trims got selected. The entire model year run of 2024 is highly likely to sell out quickly if and when they do reopen the books. The company has provided a means of staying in the loop, though, through a contact option on their website that will provide updates as they are available.

The 1LT sells for $44,995 and only offers front-wheel-drive. The 2LT is selling for $47,595 and is available in front or all-wheel-drive versions. Meanwhile, the RS sells for $51,995 and can be had in any configuration of front, rear, or all-wheel-drive. The most powerful and likely most popular iteration, the SS, retails for $65,995. All trims offer a standard eight-year or 100,000 mile battery warranty as well. The Blazer EV includes an optional Regen on Demand system and One Pedal Driving, which allows the vehicle to recuperate some kinetic energy back into the battery to lengthen the overall range.

With a ripe history of popularity and familiarity, the Chevy Blazer advancing into the realm of EVs could not have come at a better time. Clearly, the offering is a hit with the public and sold at a pace that prompted the shutting down of reservations. Expect the remaining models (when offered) to go quickly if they reopen the books closer to production time. With a powerful SS option, plentiful range, a trusted maker, and great design, it is no surprise that the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has already sold out for now.
